NX Lightning Series Solenoids flow great, weigh less and look sexy. Lightning series solenoids are CNC machined from lightweight billet aluminum and topped with carbon fiber cans for the ultimate weight savings. NX Lightning solenoids feature a raised inlet and a bottom exit, eliminating up to four 90-degree turns and one expansion area in the body of the solenoid. Nitrous Express only uses the highest quality solenoids in the USA. Don’t be fooled by low-price come-ons; the solenoids are the most critical component of a nitrous system.
Lightning series fuel solenoids feature a bypass port that allows you to connect a small bypass-return line to your tank. This eliminates lean spikes caused by trapped air between your fuel pressure regulator and the fuel solenoid. Lightning series solenoids come standard in many NX nitrous systems and are also available separately as an upgrade to your existing nitrous system.
- .187” Orifice
- Supports 300 HP
- 1/8” Ports
- Draws 3 AMPS max
The key to maximizing nitrous horsepower is to keep the nitrous in liquid form until it is injected into the engine. Sharp bends cause nitrous flow to become turbulent, which causes gaseous bubbles to form in the nitrous flow. Expansion areas also cause the nitrous to go gaseous. Liquid nitrous makes more power than gaseous nitrous, Period! The result is more horsepower! Lightning series nitrous solenoids feature a bypass port that allows you to connect a purge valve directly to the body of the nitrous solenoid. Connecting the purge valve to the body of the nitrous solenoid not only look cleaner, it ensures that there is no trapped air in the body of the solenoid.

What is a Nitrous Solenoid?
A nitrous solenoid is a device used in nitrous oxide (N2O) systems, commonly used in automotive applications to enhance engine performance. Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is injected into the engine’s intake system to provide an additional oxygen source, resulting in increased power output.
The nitrous solenoid is an electronically controlled valve that regulates the flow of nitrous oxide from the nitrous bottle to the intake system. It is typically mounted near the intake manifold and connected to the nitrous oxide supply line. The solenoid is controlled by an electrical signal, usually from a dedicated controller or a nitrous oxide activation switch.
When the activation signal is received, the solenoid opens, allowing nitrous oxide to flow into the intake manifold, where it mixes with fuel and air. This enriched mixture significantly increases oxygen content, allowing for more complete combustion and generating more power. The solenoid can be modulated to control the amount of nitrous oxide injected, allowing for fine-tuning and control over the power boost.
Nitrous solenoids are designed to withstand the high-pressure environment of nitrous oxide systems, and they typically have durable seals and construction to prevent leaks. They are an essential component of nitrous oxide systems and other components like the nitrous bottle, lines, jets, and fuel system upgrades.
It’s important to note that using nitrous oxide systems requires proper installation, tuning, and precautions to ensure the vehicle’s safe operation. Improper use or installation can lead to engine damage or other safety risks. It is recommended to consult with experts or professionals experienced in nitrous oxide systems for guidance and assistance.
