Description

The DME Racing GSX-R1000 Straight Link is designed specifically for aggressively lowered, grudge-style drag bikes that need additional ground clearance and need to sit lower than the factory rear suspension geometry will allow.

By changing the rear suspension geometry, the DME Racing Straight Link provides approximately 2″ of additional ground clearance while allowing the bike to achieve an aggressive lowered stance. Unlike a standard straight link that can make the rear suspension extremely stiff, the DME design helps maintain usable suspension movement.

What is the Purpose of this Link?

When a GSX-R1000 is lowered significantly for drag racing, ground clearance and rear suspension travel can quickly become limiting factors. The factory rear cushion lever can restrict how low the motorcycle can go, while a conventional straight link can provide additional lowering but also make the rear suspension extremely stiff.

The DME Racing GSX-R1000 Straight Link is designed to address both issues. Its geometry provides approximately 2″ of additional ground clearance, allowing the motorcycle to maintain an aggressive lowered ride height while helping reduce the excessively stiff suspension action commonly associated with standard straight-link setups.

This makes it ideal for long-wheelbase, grudge-style GSX-R1000s where maximum ground clearance, a low ride height, and usable rear suspension movement are important.

FITMENT

FEATURES

  • Provides approximately 2″ of additional ground clearance
  • Allows the motorcycle to be lowered beyond the limits of the stock rear cushion lever
  • Helps reduce the extremely stiff suspension action associated with conventional straight links
  • Designed for long-wheelbase, grudge-style applications
  • Provides usable rear suspension movement at aggressive ride heights
  • Requires a Penske Triple Adjustable Piggyback Shock
  • Requires shorter suspension links (dog bones)

INSTALLATION NOTES

Proper shock and spring setup is important when using this rear cushion lever. For most motorcycles with a 67–70″ wheelbase, a 600–700 lb spring will be required. Final spring selection will depend on the motorcycle’s setup, rider weight, ride height, and application.

  • Shorter suspension links (dog bones) are required.
  • Designed specifically for aggressively lowered drag racing applications.
  • Shock and spring setup should be matched to the motorcycle’s combination.
